Dr. Ivonne Borrero is the Assistant Director for the office of Behavioral Health of the Boston Public Schools.  She directly supervises school psychologist in BPS.  She works with teachers, Special Education and EL staff to support their work with English Learners and Special Education students.  As a Bilingual (Spanish-English) School Psychologist, she has gained a vast experience in working with bilingual students in Puerto Rico and Massachusetts.  She has worked for Boston and Newton Public schools and  during the time in Newton she developed programs for ELs/SWD who’s native language was Spanish.  She has supervised graduate level students who were completing their practicum/internship experiences for over 20 years.  She is a member of the EL/SWD Task Force of the BPS School Committee and the EL advisory board for the Department of Education. She currently teaches a graduate level course at Lasell University in the Education Department.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Borrero graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Indiana with a BA in Psychology and Education.  She returned to her homeland where she obtained her M.S. and Psy.D. in clinical Psychology at the Carlos Albizu University in San Juan Puerto Rico.  She has two children both graduates of Fenway High School.
