The Ins and Outs of FQHCs for Integrated Behavioral Health Providers

Session Description: This webinar is designed to provide an overview of California’s public healthcare system & the Medi-Cal Managed Care landscape for behavioral health. The speaker will also provide an introduction to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and the values and challenges of an Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) model.

Presenter Bio: Mia Cooper Kahn is the Senior Manager of Behavioral Health at Alameda Health Consortium (AHC). AHC is a regional consortium of 8 Federally Qualified Health Centers in Alameda County. Mia leads AHC’s BH team, which supports the integrated behavioral health programs at AHC’s member health centers by elevating the voices of integrated BH leaders and advocating for our community’s BH needs. Mia’s team supports health centers through BH capacity building, stakeholder relations, policy and advocacy.
Learning Objectives: After completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the key structural and functional components of our public healthcare system, with a focus on Medi-Cal Managed Care
- Describe key elements of FQHCs and how they incorporate culturally responsive care
- List the key elements of an IBH model and the values and challenges of IBH
