Overview

Session Description: 

This webinar is designed to provide counselors and mental health providers working in school and community settings with information to help them better support justice involve youth. The session will focus on practical implications for mental health clinicians with an emphasis on cultural humility and restorative justice practices.

 

Presenter Bio:

Hattie Tate is a credentialed Administrator and the Coordinator of the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center. She is a dedicated and passionate Educator who works in partnership with government public agencies and community-based organizations.   Her background is in Business & Finance and she brings many years of experience in education, program coordination, program management, project development, grant management/reporting, and strategic planning.  As an experienced presenter to diverse audiences on various topics including diversity, equity and inclusion, academic success, social belonging, restorative justice, and gender-based violence issues,  she focuses on building healthy communities one person or one family at a time.  Ms. Tate has an unwavering commitment to serving the underserved and those of disadvantaged communities through education, advocacy, collaboration, strategic planning, and goal setting. Ms. Tate is skilled as a restorative justice facilitator and in building consensus among stakeholders for diverse initiatives.  She is committed to excellence in program delivery; and works effectively across functional areas and within and across cultural barriers. She is a compassionate leader who demonstrates integrity while managing change, and always looking forward to success.

 

Learning Objectives: 

After completing this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe three common mental health challenges faced by justice involved youth.
  • List two strategies for supporting justice involved youth in school and community settings.
  • Describe strategies for collaborating in teams to support justice involved youth to bridge the gap between community based and schools services.

Participants licensed in California by the BBS desiring CEU credit for attending this webinar will be directed to sign in at the start of the webinar and will be required to provide an evaluation of the session directly following the webinar and verify their participation and attendance. CEU certificates will be emailed to participants who successfully complete both the sign in and evaluation process.
