Presenter Bios:
Michelle Maddex, LCSW is an Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician in a school-based health center of La Clinica de la Raza. Michelle has worked in Integrated Behavioral Health Care for the past 6 years and appreciates that it is a very accessible, low barrier way for communities to access Behavioral Health Care who otherwise may not. Michelle is passionate about working with recently arrived immigrants and youth who have high levels of trauma exposure. Michelle is committed to bringing systemic issues into individual therapy and uses Narrative Therapy and other trauma informed and social justice oriented approaches to do so. Michelle is from a small town in Colorado and has lived in the Bay Area for the past 5 years. Outside of work she loves to hike with her dog, ski, and spend time outside with friends.
Sarah Taylor, LCSW (she/her) is an Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician in La Clínica de La Raza’s School-Based Health Centers. She has over ten years of experience working at the intersections of education and health care. Her work has centered on supporting children and families impacted by complex trauma and providing consultation & training to peer counselors, clinicians, and educators. Sarah has also been a leader in the development of policies and practices that prioritize the need for structural change, community care and responsiveness to the impacts of vicarious trauma on staff working in schools and health centers. She is passionate about reducing disparities in mental health care access, parenting from a place of curiosity & empathy, and dismantling the myth of scarcity. Sarah was born and raised near Chicago, IL. She earned her Master of Social Work from Portland State University in 2012. Sarah relocated to the Bay Area 8 years ago and resides on Ohlone land, also known as Oakland, with her partner, child, puppy and an abundance of plants. In her free time, Sarah enjoys rock climbing, running, cooking for friends, and going on adventures with her pup.
Meg Yardley, LCSW, is an Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician in a school-based health center of La Clinica de la Raza. She has worked in schools for over fifteen years; her work in Integrated Behavioral Health has included adapting trauma groups to serve newcomer immigrant youth, and developing a high school peer mentor program. Areas of professional focus include trauma and somatics, restorative justice, and youth development/ youth leadership. She is originally from New Jersey and has lived in Oakland since 2005. Outside of work she also enjoys writing, walking in the East Bay hills, and spending time with her kids.
Session Description:
This training focuses on the specifics of IBH in school-based settings including the benefits of being at a school site, ways that we collaborate with school support teams, and best practices for working with youth at School Based Clinics.

LO1: Identify benefits and drawbacks off School Based Integrated Care
L02: Identify 2 youth centered therapeutic modalities used in School Based settings.
L03: Identify pathways for youth into school based IBH.
